Described as...

Section 31 is a collaborative project between electric trumpeter Todd Horton (Ani Difranco, Buddy Miles, The Spin Doctors), keyboardist Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Grover Washington, Chaka Khan, Wallace Roney), bassist Pawel Maciwoda (Michael Urbaniak, Ursula Dudziak, The Scorpions) and drummer Peter Lewis (Hiram Bullock, Randy Brecker). It features original compositions in the electric jazz/rock genre, with elements of funk. This music is highly creative and original, with direct links to the music of Weather Report, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. It is truly a New York City sound, edgy, spontaneous and electric.

Adam Holzman has had an illustrious career as a keyboardist, composer and record producer. His four year tenure with Miles Davis in the 1980’s is perhaps the most notable and important credits to his name. Todd Horton has performed and/or recorded with many world renowned artists in many genres, including legendary Jimi Hendrix drummer Buddy Miles, folk icon Ani Difranco, Grammy nominated pop rock group The Spin Doctors, Camerounian superstar Richard Bona and jazz luminaries such as Ryo Kawasaki, Richie Cole, Bob Dorough, Ronny Jordan and Hiram Bullock. Interestingly, when Horton was in his early twenties, he saw Adam Holzman perform with Miles Davis on several occasions and felt destined to work with him. Over a decade leter they met and joined forces to create one of the most unique, underground fusion groups in New York.
