About this Album
This album contains a collection of trumpet and flugelhorn player Todd Horton’s favorite jazz standards. It features Horton’s rhythm section of many years: Steeplechase and Grammy nominated recording pianist and organist Brian Charette (Laco Deczi, Lou Donaldson, Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan), Aaron Comess, (drummer of the Grammy nominated American pop/rock group, The Spin Doctors) and bassist Tim Givens, (Brad Mehldau, Ray Bryant, Lou Donaldson, Curtis Fuller). Recorded at the famed New York City jazz club Deanna’s, this recording is an intimate and sensitive portrayal of Horton’s deep sensibility as a lifelong jazz musician dedicated to the art of swing and improvisation.
Todd Horton, originally from Ithaca NY, now living in Philadelphia, spent fifteen years in New York City as a performing and recording artist. He has performed and/or recorded with Arnie Lawrence, Richie Cole, Bob Dorough, Vic Juris, Adam Holzman, Hiram Bullock, Richard Bona, Michael Urbaniak, Billy Bang, Ryo Kawasaki, Rashied Ali, Herman Foster, Aaron Neville, Ani Difranco, The Spin Doctors and many others. Horton has also composed music for award winning films and produced albums for dozens of artists in multiple genres. For more info visit www.toddhorton.com/
